Bionomicon:  30th Century Atlas

2022

Before the Internet, and before the Encyclopédie, atlases used to be the densest containers of knowledge available to (the privileged part of) humankind. Originally just a collection of maps, their design rapidly evolved while their scope grew exponentially: maps make up only a portion of modern atlases.
By its very nature, an atlas conveys information about what is. Bionomicon: 30th Century Atlas recontextualizes its familiar form in order to investigate what could be. Using a speculative approach and a combination of generative design and worldbuilding techniques, Bionomicon: 30 th Century Atlas offers a critique of the present through the lens of a hypothetical future.
